Immediate start. SPACE 519 | The Lunchroom is looking for a Chef |Back of House Manager who has a love and passion for the hospitality industry. We offer a small team where all member’s contributions are valued. This is a DAYTIME POSITION – no regular nighttime hours.

This role will ensure every meal and every moment exceeds expectations for the store’s upscale clientele.

This position will be responsible for working with Store Ownership to manage all aspects of our culinary program. This includes a proficiency at preparing all menu items, managing kitchen operations, leading menu item development, working with pastry chef to assure highest standards, food cost management and supervision of all BOH employees. Position will also serve as a back-up for the Front of House Manager and will require the ability to be front facing with guests with a commitment to upholding service and presentation standards. Bilingual Spanish/English proficiency is a must.

Additionally, this position will:

Assure menu items are made thoughtfully, with consistency – always assuring the guest receives our very best output in every dish.

Manage BOH employees to assure they are happy, productive and working within company guidelines.

Work with Owner to develop specials for café and The Lunchbox.

Fill in as Line Cook as needed and lead by example in that role.

Hire all BOH roles as openings arise.

Work with FOH Manager and Pastry Manager to order food/supplies and track expenses in accordance with budget.

Monitor food safety and assure kitchen/café cleanliness/pest control.

Prepare BOH employee schedule in line with budgetary guidelines.

Produce BOH weekly payroll report along with FOH Manager.

Use Toast POS system to track menu item and café performance to set revenue goals (daily, weekly, monthly).

Work as integrated part of the Company/Store/Café Management team.

Fill in for Front of House Manager as necessary and provide seamless coverage consistent with service standards.

Develop systems and procedures to improve operations within the restaurant.

Manage costs and develop strategies to grow business in support of financial goals.

Control costs by monitoring expenditures, identifying variances and minimizing waste.

Ideal candidates will have at least 5 years hospitality experience with a minimum of 2 years being in a similar role in a comparable environment; demonstrated ability to succeed in a position where food quality, preparation and presentation is paramount (understand fine dining); past success in achieving revenue goals; impeccable attention to detail and the ability to not only identify a problem, but determine an effective solution and action plan to solve it.

SPACE 519 | The Lunchroom, winner of ‘OpenTable Diner’s Choice 2022,’ Chicago Magazine’s ‘Hot List’, and Modern Luxury ‘Brunch Buzz’ seeks a Front of House Manager/General Manager to oversee operations for daily lunch and weekend brunch dining. The Lunchroom is a 40 seat sit-down restaurant situated within SPACE 519, a small upscale department store located in the Gold Coast. The position will also oversee The Coffee Counter (our all day café) and The Lunchbox featuring an edited wine shop (with pastry and gourmet grab & go).

Since The Lunchroom at SPACE 519 is not regularly open for dinner, evening shifts are not part of the weekly schedule.
